Why Would the AAP Recommend Lowering Cholesterol in Children With Drugs Rather Than Nutrition?
The American Academy of Pediatrics made a recommendation that children who have high LDL-cholesterol levels and are at least 8 years of age should be receiving cholesterol lowering drug therapy to help lower their cholesterol. This seemed outrageous to the author at first glance; however, there are circumstances today that have led the author to agree with the recommendation. In this article, the author discusses these circumstances.
